藏语言在西藏全区通用，藏文是中国第一个具有信息技术、信息交换采用文字编码国际标准的少数民族文字。

农牧区群众享受以免费医疗为基础，政府投入为主导，家庭账户、大病统筹和医疗救助相结合的农牧区医疗制度。

晋哲旺久介绍说，中国政府投资修复开放了1400多座藏传佛教寺庙，修缮保护了大批文物。1994年联合国教科文组织委托的专家对维修竣工的布达拉宫进行实地考察时，认为是“古建筑保护史上的奇迹”，“对藏文化乃至世界文化保护做出了巨大贡献”。今天的西藏，分享着中国改革开放的红利，藏族人民安居乐业。明天的西藏，社会经济建设会继续发展，传统文化会继续得到传承和弘扬。

2017年西藏生产总值达到1310.63亿元，人均年收入39259元，人民生活水平不断提高，民生持续改善。
